Just this week, I had a woman who came to my office with complaints of midback pain that wrapped around to her ribs. After doing an exam and taking x-rays of her spine, it was determined that she had just recently had a compression fracture of a vertebra in her midback. This happens when you combine low bone density and poor posture, and the weight of the body is just too much for the vertebra to support, and it collapses.
So what can people (particularly women) do to prevent something like this from happening to them?
- Watch Your Posture The position you sit at the computer, or working on your laptop, watching TV, or sitting in your car could one day come back to get you if you’re not paying attention! If your posture is bad, chances are you already feeling the effects of it as tension and tightness in your neck or back.
- Work on Improving Your Bone Density Sometimes, walking and taking more Calcium aren’t enough. You need to do something more. That’s where the BStrong4Life program comes in.
